Which of our fashion trends are our kids going to laugh at? I'm sure you have all looked at pictures of your parents wearing terribly dated fashion and hair styles. Whether they are like mine and sported cheesy "60s hippy style with bell bottoms and sideburns, wearing polyester leisure suites of the seventies, or horrible acid washed jeans and perms of the '80s. What trends that we are wearing today are going to become "dated" looking? What pictures of you and your current style are your kids going to laugh at? You guys all had really great answers (although i can't beleive no one mentioned super low rise jeans with a thong sticking out the top ;) ) I cant decide who to pick for best answer so why don't you guys vote on it!
What were a lot of DIFFERENT fashion trends of the 80s? We are doing Bon Jovi for band, and in color guard, we have to dress up 80s style. And because its for guard we cant do the high heels, big chunky jewelry or dangly earings or anything else that would get in the way of spinning the flag. Im trying to find things to put my uniform together, and even though it looks ok, I want it to look amazing! Anything will help, thanks! we have to wear a large black shirt that says like jovi or bon jovi on it. but we get to cut it up at least. and we have to wear our jazz shoes, so i cant wear fun shoes unforunitly.
What current fashion trends do you hate the most? At the top of my list: Those ugly gladiator sandals Metallic stuff Skinny jeans (They look terrible on everyone! The 80s are over!) Color block stuff (Again with the 80s. Come on people. Are we going to bring back the mullet next???) All those tacky geometric prints Which ones do you wish would vanish from the planet? :)
Fashion Trends? What were the fashion trends for the: 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s What was considered "in" and "cool" Just give me and example of an outfit someone might wear. For Example "bell bottoms" Also the various hair styles worn at the time.
Fashion trends & pubic hair.? I'm very curious on this. I've noticed 80s styles have been coming back now for awhile (leggings, skinny jeans, etc). I'm wondering if a full pubic bush on females will come back soon also? Now I know you all are like "ewww, gross". But I bet most of you thought "ewww, gross" to leggings, skinny jeans, etc a few years back, and are now wearing them because they are "in style". Personally, I'm 20 years old and love having a full bush because it makes me feel womanly and not like a little kid, and I just wish guys would find it sexy too. And for the people that think pubes get stuck in teeth, obviously the people in the 80s figured it out and still had great sex. Do any of you think a bush will make a fashion come back soon?
What current fashion trends are you tired of, to UK Yahooers? I'm tired of the following: Plaid/Nirvana shirts worn with skinny jeans and deer stalkers Neon 80s nikes bubble skirts belts worn with everything Nu rave - neon wristbands festival wristbands airman style coats with the furry/sheep's wool collars spiky hairdos girls with 70s hair with blunt fringes or hair like debbie harry or short boy cuts dyed peroxide granny chic - stuff they sell at rokit and beyond retro ugg boots with tucked in jeans boots with furry bits the retro look sometimes i think people in the uk esp London try too hard to be kooky/original and unique and come off looking like they got dressed in a dark alley. what about you?
Is the 80s fashion slowly cycling back in? First the skinny jeans, then all those bright colors this season....Now check out these stirrup leggings....Never thought I would ever see those again....hahahaha..... http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=basics&product%5Fid=2050650441&Page=1 What do you think about that? If you have already been through that era as I have, will you wear those again, just to stay with the "current" trend?
worst fashion trend? out of all those crazy ugly dorky fashion trends that have been coming out which is the worst in ur opinion?? i dont like the leggings 80s style thing of those big bug sunglasses..
Start a fashion trend!? hey guys i just thought it would be fun to just all say what we wish was a popular fashion trend or what you want to become a fashion trend... i'll start: bright colors without looking like you're from the 80s: purple legwarmers over green jeans!
Ever notice a fashion trend? People wore sweaters and dress clothes then greasers went casual. Then, people wore more relaxed casual clothes and kept their hair natural. Then, men had big hair and bright casual clothes. Then, men had crew cuts and women had big hair. Men kept clothes plain and women added more accessories than ever. Then Gen X toned everything down. Afterwards, people rebelled against normal casual and started dressing in a modern 70s style or at least wore retro tees. Is it destiny for every generation to rebel against their parents? Will my kids dress in a modern 80s style?
ok all you 80s babies? if you could bring one fashion trend back, what would it be? leg warmers? leather pants? stir up pants with the huge belted shirt and pumps? i think mine would be-ripped up jeans with boots and 10,000 jellie bracelets-and the hair (good god what were we thinking!?)
what do you think fashion will be like in five years? my prediction: 2007 is already experiencing an 80s craze with stripe patterns, neon colored sneakers, skinny jeans, colored denim, leggings, and legwarmers. the only exception is that the hair is not a big issue with this trend (best if it is still left in the 80s!) now with low rise jeans slowly winding down and replaced with high waisted styles and the ressurection of wide leg jeans, the retro '70s look is slowly creeping back. i think in fall 2008, we will see more high waisted styles in pants and jeans. wide leg jeans may replace skinny jeans but not in its entirety (a few flare-legged styles have made a comeback). but i think fashion will transition through to the late '80s and early '90s. in 2009 and 2010, i believe the '90s will make a comeback with the '80s post-punk fashion giving away to street hip-hop inspired fashion for women and grunge fashion for guys. anyway, i think in the next decade a mix of old school hip-hop fashion and late '90s pop fashion will dominate.
What are some Noughties pop-culture items? In years to come, which sociological trends, or random things will be 'so very Noughties' (ie 70s platform shoes, 80s Glasnost and Perestroika, yo-yos free with cans of coke) Which fashion trends? Which types telly programmes? Which musical trends? Which iconic events? Which music types? Which social concepts? You get the idea
What are some fashions from the past? Next week is spirt week at school! One of our days is a blast from the past. We can pick a decade (like 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s) and dress up like they did. I need help picking a time and an outfit to go with it.. I was leaning towards the 80s but dont really know what to wear? can you tell me fashion trends from those years or help me find pictures? please && thanks you :]]
are bellbottoms making a fashion comeback? i've been looking at some magazines lately and it is showing that wide leg pants and jeans are going to be the next big trend in denim this year. i knew we just got out of the bellbottom craze in 2003 just when straight legs made a resurgence in denim. the skinny trend is still going strong with leggings and skinny jeans but it is going to be haunted again with the '70s look on the horizon. notice the pattern that we went through this decade with all types of these type of jeans: flares+bellbottoms (1999 - 2003) leg openings were a lot wider. slim flares+bootcuts (2003 - 2004) flares got smaller and bootcuts became more dominant. bootcuts+straight legs (2004 - 2005) jeans were shrinking which signaled an '80s resurgence. straight legs+skinny jeans (2006 -) straight legs became more slimmer and tapered at the ankle. skinny jeans+wide legs (2007 -) we jumped from the '80s and back to the bellbottoms.
Can someone explain the cycle? I've been told that things like fashion trends and what kind of music we like goes through cycles. What would people born in the '90s like? The '80s? I mean, like as in what type of music.
What happened to quality? And what happened to fashion? No matter where I shop, I cannot find decent clothing! A few weeks ago I bought a cute t-shirt, but I'm afraid that it might fall apart the first time I wash it. For $20 bucks I don't expect to have it forever, but these days I'm lucky if I get a year out of something. I ordered some white pants from Delias, but when I tried them on you could see right through to the pockets! Everybody seems to be caring less about the quality of the clothing they sell. It's not just the quality, though, fashion is terrible!!!!! Now I know why my sister hated the 80s so much! I need to buy new clothing, but the trends are so aweful looking. Just because the fashion world wants us to walk around looking like idiots, does not mean that I will buy a t-shirt that goes down to my knees or some sandals that make me look like a gladiator! Ugh. While I wait for the majority of clothing retailers to get off the drugs, can anyone recommend a place that has sensible looking clothes w/ good quality?
why is fashion so ugly? eg the veronicas jonas brothers my god they look hideous it is liek the 80s again shudder do they dress that way because they convince themselves they look good fashion is like a currency, only useful when everybody else uses it i thin trends are overrated now just a bunch of gullible people who jump on the bandwagon to uglyville
Are the 90s and 00s the same? Is 2008, to you, pop culturally the same as the 90s? You could make an argument either way. Similarities: Types of music: Hip hop, alternative rock, teen pop. Trends and Fashion: Both decades are about being anti-80s. Politics: Both decades are about telecommunications, globalization, post-Cold War issues, terrorism, the battle between Democrats/Liberals and Republicans/Conservatives. Differences: The 90s were much more original. In the 90s you had Grunge rock, now you have emo. TV programming in the 90s was great, now it sucks. The 00s = a sucky 90s
What do you think this Decade be known for? You know how: The 60s are known for hippies and flower power? The 70s for bell bottom jeans, disco and bad haircuts? The 80s for Punk Music, Raido Shows and Madonna? What do you think the years 2000-2010 will be known for??? ( Fashion, Trends, Music, Revolutions, Haircuts, whatever else.) I'll tell you my theories after I get a few answers. - E♥
What items were in 1980s bedrooms? Hi. I'm creating an interactive 1980s bedroom in Flash, constructing the items made in Photoshop. I'm struggling to think of items to include that are relevant to that particuarlar decade. So far I have made a bed, wardrobe, (containing a Frankie says relax tshirt) a rubix cube and a boombox. I'm thinking of putting in 80s popstar posters as well. Anyway, as the 80s were a bit of a blur to me (i was born in '87) I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what else I could put in this room- what were the furniture, items, toys, fashions, trends, crazes, iconography and art of the 80s, that could be included in a typical 80s bedroom?
what is up with guys and straight legs tucked into sneakers? i've been watching the show "so you think you can dance" and guys on that show are tucking their straight legs into their sneakers. i know this is a reminisce of the 80s, but it equals bad fashion. i hope i am not the only one who think this is a tacky trend from hell.
Popular Beauty products in the 1960s? What are some popular beauty products from the 1960s (revlon make up, breck shampoo, etc.) I'm doing a project on my favourite era in time which is the 1960s, even though I was born in the 80s. I absolutely love the TV shows, movies, fashion, music, trends, commercials, etc. I haven't had much luck on finding what specific products were popular among women back then so could I have some feedback please? BTW I'm talking about the 1960s in the United States. Even though I know that Britain was huge with fashion. I really loved Elizabeth Montgomery's eye make up from Bewitched. It reminds me a lot of Audrey Hepburn's look in Breakfast At Tiffany's (my fav. movie!) My fav. TV show of all time is the Wonder Years. I'm also a HUGE fan of I Love Lucy, Mickey Mouse Club, Brady Bunch, Peanuts, etc. I'm even growing my hair out like Maureen McCormick's.
Just moved to OZ - what are you wearing??? Hi just moved to Perth, OZ. fashion seems to be a little 80s. Is that a passing trend? I saw someone wearing the exact same outfit I wore when I was an emerging teenager!
